  15. The mistakes she made were she only used her debit card. This is unsafe because it makes it easier for others to get a hold of your numbers. I feel id theft id so common because of our economy. So many people are out of work and need money and this might be the only option they see. Some personal belongings that people would steel would be important documents such as bank loans or blank checks. Some ways to save your identity is to check your bank account monthly and to be aware of what you buy and what you buy it with. In my opinion they both are a little to blame. Yes that person should do a little more to protect themselves but also what’s that guy doing in their business? Either way we all should be more careful.

  17. 1. The lady's frequent use of her debit card caused her to have her identity stolen. As it turns out, it's more risky to use your debit card than your credit card when it comes to identity theft.
2.Identity theft is such a common problem these days because between hacking, dumpster diving, lying, and stupidity, it's not hard for people to steal one another's information. Also since people have always wanted to take the easy way out, they just figure it's easy to steal than to work.
    3. Credit card, debit card, and social security card are probably all thats needed to get started. Other things would be bank statements, credit card statments, tax info, and pay stubs.
    4. Don't give away your bank password, credit card number, social security number, and other important info to anyone over the phone, even if they say ther're an agency or bussines (ex. bank, IRS). Don't carry too many credit cards, debit cards, or other personal info around with you in your wallet. Don't use your debit card too much. Change your credit card number every couple of years. Check your bank statements and credit reports often.
    5. Obviously the person stealing the information is at fault. There is absolutely no doubt at all about that. However, that dosn't mean the victim shouldn't have been careful about his personal info.

I completely dissagree with Katie Holt's answer on question 5. It's almostt completely the fault of the theif.
