Final Project

Here we are last day of the term. This little project will be your last class assignment for the term and will also be worth extra credit points on the exam. This is due at the end of the hour on Friday, March 25. Email me at janice.lang@bedford.k12.mi.us;  in the subject line of your email: key your first and last name, H3, attach your document to the email.  Late work will not be accepted.  Failure to email your assignment as an attachment will result in a zero for the assignment and no extra credit on your exam. 


Topic is business Ethics. Your assignment is to read the articles on the Ford Pinto -  (links below)  
Ø  Complete a one to two page summary of the case. This will require you to complete additional research, include: 
     o   Is the action illegal? Does the action violate any laws?
o   Does the action violate company or professional standards?
o   Who is involved (who caused this/who was effected)
o   What was not ethical
o   Where did this take place
o   How did this effect all parties
o   What should have been done and why (to be ethical)
Complete as much as you can in the time given.  Your grade will be based on the quality of the work you provide.  Allow yourself 10 minutes to email me your work.

Podcast Experience

1. Key the following in a Word document - save to your P drive - name it "your last name Podcast".  In your own words, define what a Podcast is and give examples of how it is used. 
2. Then listen to the following Podcast from NPR (National Public Radio) http://www.npr.org/rss/podcast.php?id=510284. If this link doesn't work - follow directions below.

If the link above doesn't work go the the NPR site http://www.npr.org/rss/podcast/podcast_directory.php - select the "Your Health" link and listen to one of the Podcasts on health. 
3. Create a summary of what the Podcast was about.  Save again. 
4.  You will be creating your own Podcast about a teen health issue of your choice.  Think about what you might want to discuss . . . your Podcast must be 3 to 5 minutes long.  It will be a conversation.  You may work with a partner.  If you work with a partner, the podcast you do together should be no less than 5 minutes long.  Research the topic you want to discuss and create an outline.

Have you given much thought about the tracks you are leaving and what impact those tracks may have on your life?  Do you know 40 % of employers check social site such as Facebook before hiring?  What are your thoughts on this?  Are there ways you can limit or protect yourself without becoming a hermit?   When you're finished watching the video and answering the questions .... complete part 2, below the video.

Part two:  Google one of your parent's name and follow the links - what information did you find that was accurate?  Did anything you find surprise you?  What are the advantages and disadvantages of have this type of information so readily available?

Work Ethic

  1. Below you’ll find links to two separate web sites designed to measure your work ethic and employability skills.  Click on the link below, fill in the requested information and honestly answer the questions and submit.
 A. Occupational Work Ethic Inventory         

  1. Record your scores for each test in the areas of interpersonal skills, initiative, and dependability.  Put your test results into a word document.

B.     Employability Skills Assessment


  1. On the same document that your test results are recorded, answer the following questions.  Refer to your test results.  Be sure to explain if your results match your own opinion of your work ethics.

    1. Do you have good interpersonal skills (communication, teamwork, positive attitude, kindness, honesty…)
    2. Do you show initiative? (do things without being told)
    3. Are you dependable? (show up when scheduled, arrive on-time….)
